AED is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are portable, life-saving devices designed to treat people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, a medical condition in which the heart stops beating suddenly and unexpectedly.

• Aportable defibrillator designed to be automated such that it can be used by persons without substantial medical training who are responding to a cardiac emergency.
• An electrical device used to counteract fibrillation of the heart muscle and restore normal heartbeat by applying a brief electric shock.
